Over the last 8 weeks we have been practicing our end of year school concert. Each class has been given a decade from the 1920's to the future to create a play about. This is a show that will blow you away and also give you the memories of that decade. Room 3 got given the 1970's. We have characters such as Forrest Gump, Bruce Lee, 6 million dollar man and of course disco dancing! This will be at the Auroa Community Hall on the 18th of December at 7pm if you can't come at that time come earlier at 12pm. We will also have some Christmas carols that the school will be singing for you to listen to. It will be the best night ever!

Room 3 hit mathletics big time today with a massive effort. We ended up the highest scoring class in New Zealand and the number two class in the world. We did this by only doing our activities and not using matheletics live. Well done to 6 of our students getting in the top 10 for New Zealand and Madaline reaching the number 1 student!
Room 3 have finally got our first two golds in Matheletics. To get a gold each student must get 5 silvers. To a silver you need 5 bronzes. As you could imagine a lot of mathematics is required for each gold. Well done!
Room 3 got to see the lost Kayak that was found on the shores of a South Taranaki beach. It was involved on a solo crossing from Australia to New Zealand, when a fierce storm swept it away from its owner. Luckily both the Kayak and its owner escaped major harm and he came to answer some questions from the students. Here are a few pics.

Wow Room 3's blog has finally smashed through the 20,000 hits barrier and with a whole term still to come this year. Let's see if we can make 25,000 or 30,000 before the end of the year. Keep on reading!
Our groups in Room 3 have been working hard on their repurposing projects. Each company are making their own presentation about what they are going to make and how much it will cost. Thier aim is to make the greatest profit possible. They are not allowed to use new things and almost all of the materials must be recycled.
Room 3 have been learning to use the Numbers software to help us graph our information for repurposing. It helps each group get a great visual picture of how they are going to make a profit for market day.

We have been celebrating Matariki in the past week at Auroa school and this Friday are going to have a fun day with lots of learning and a performance by the Kapa Haka group. If you don't understand what Matariki is here is a little information:
What is Matariki?
Matariki is the Māori name for the group of stars also known as the Pleiades star cluster or the Seven Sisters.
During Matariki we celebrate our unique place in the world.
Matariki is an important time of the year for the provision of kai:
“Ngā kai a Matariki nāna i ao ake i runga.”
“Matariki scoops up the food.”
•There are 2 translations for Matariki.
•Matariki - tiny eyes.
•Mata Ariki – Eyes of God.
When is it?
During the end of May and the beginning of June each year, Matariki rises on the north east horizon. The same spot as the rising sun.
